Welcome to the About the Goodie Jar/Bear Trail page.

Who are we? We are a family owned and operated home-based business. The website began shortly after our marriage-- both are going on 18 years! The Bear Trail is our legal business name. We have recently begun using the name The Goodie Jar because our focus is no longer limited to handcrafted as The Bear Trail was.

Where are we? We are from Orange County, NY. A small town called Sparrow Bush. I'm originally from an even smaller town nearby called Rio. (that's Rye-O). Just a few miles away is Port Jervis. You can find it on the map if you look at the exact spot where NY, NJ, and PA connect. There is actually a rock you can stand on and be in all 3 states (or so they say!) Why The Bear Trail? That's simple! For the bear that trails through our yard every fall and spring. All of our neighbors can't wait to see him...and then can't wait until he leaves. He bends bird feeders and takes off with trash cans, usually leaving them in the woods for us to hunt for!

My family: For now, it's just my husband, myself and our cats Mischief & Mayhem. I do come from a long line of women that enjoy crafting. My mother loves knitting, she always has a blanket in the works. Gramma crochets. She just turned 95 and has more get-up-and-go than anyone I know!

What do we sell?: I like to believe we have a nice selection of unique handmade gifts. From hand counted cross stitch samplers to towels and shirts. We also carry a wide selection of teapots and accessories.
